ITIL Version 3, ITIL Refresh

The ITIL Refresh - ITIL Version 3

ITIL is currently being redeveoped (an exercise offcially known as the 'ITIL Refresh'). This, of course, is a lengthy process, and from start to finish will span years rather than months. The deliverables, however, will be released and published in 'tranches'.

Five new core texts will eventually be publsihed: IT Service Strategies; IT Service Design; IT Service Introduction; IT Service Operations; IT Service Improvement.

In addition to these, a range of complimentary material is expected to be provided. This is likely to include a detailed glossary, process maps and mappings to other governance frameworks and techniques.

Although the current sets may be steamlined in some respects, a radical overhaul is not expected.

W3J is a technical portal and archive for business and technology journals, papers and standards. It is one of the oldest such sites on the web, and continues to evolve to embrace new areas.

ITIL v3 Certification
The current certification scheme will eventually change. Expectations again are that this will not be radical, and as both ISEB and EXIN are directly involved in the refresh, the transition will almost certainly be smooth. .
